Palm Springs Sister Cities is excited to announce an extraordinary cultural collaboration arriving this fall—San Miguel Around the World, a stunning floral art installation that captures the vibrant spirit of our Sister City, San Miguel de Allende.
This installation, created by Mestiz, a renowned Mexican art studio that merges innovative design with traditional artisan techniques, has already captivated audiences in Madrid and Houston. Now, thanks to the support of the City of Palm Springs and San Miguel’s Mayor Trejo and our dedicated partners, this breathtaking project is coming to Palm Springs.
About the Installation
The exhibit features 36 oversized floral sculptures—each handcrafted in vivid colors that reflect the essence of San Miguel’s architecture, flowers, and traditions. Crafted from wicker and suspended in air, these dramatic 120 cm blooms are designed to create an immersive experience. The flowers embody the heartbeat of San Miguel, offering a sensory journey that connects visitors with the city’s rich cultural heritage. The installation is taking place on Palm Springs Museum Way - the corridor leading toward the Palm Springs Art Museum and near the entrance to the Downtown Park.
A Celebration of Friendship and Culture
Palm Springs Sister Cities’ mission is to build lasting cultural, educational, and civic connections. This installation is more than art—it is a symbol of friendship and a testament to the creative spirit that unites Palm Springs and San Miguel de Allende.
As current President Gary Armstrong shared:
“ This isn’t just another art display—it’s a chance to transform downtown into an immersive, Instagram-worthy destination that celebrates creativity, international friendship, and the beauty of Palm Springs in full bloom. As October is National Arts and Humanities Month, this international exhibition will showcase the best of Palm Springs to visitors from around the world, giving residents and tourists alike a reason to linger, explore, and share the magic of our city."
Why It Matters
Cultural exchanges like this allow our community to experience the beauty and creativity of San Miguel firsthand. They deepen mutual understanding, foster international goodwill, and demonstrate how art can transcend borders to inspire dialogue and friendship.
